You know, topics like this are interesting to me. I am the daughter of a law enforcement officer and guns are just part of my life. But I grew up with all sorts of folks that weren't in LE and shunned the things, or were terrified of them. I will do whatever it takes to defend my children, I didn't bear them into the world to willingly hand them over as victims. Its my God given duty to protect them. Now, if I could just get my dh to figure out putting the .38 down in the file cabinet under lock and key is detrimental to using it in time of need... None of my siblings or I EVER touched dad's weapons, which were always out and ready and loaded. Though we had some very intense and graphic teaching on weapons right after potty training ended-that is probably why.

| Concealed carry laws have been proven to lower crime.. it's common sense, criminals carry regardless of the law, so if law abiding citizens carry, criminals have to be VEEERY careful who they are going to terrorize. I live in one of 2 states that do not allow carry. Citizens of WI are working on that. Better to be prepared and not need it/use it, than to have a child grabbed off the curb in front of you and able to do nothing. |

| I keep coming back to the fact that Jesus didn't condemn Peter for carrying a sword but only admonished him that it wasn't the time to use it. |

Personally I am against any form of weapon ownership or use, but that is me. I can understand the reasons why someone would choose a different way.
For me, I place my trust in God's providence to protect me and my family. If a situation presents itself where I would need a gun to protect myself or family, I suppose prayer will be my only choice. I am OK with that, but I would never want to infringe on anyone else's right to choose another path that follows Church and civil law. |

Peter seemed to be pretty quick tempered... maybe another diciple should have been carrying the sword? : ) Defense is a very hard thing to decide on, because defense can quickly become assault. After the Marines, I took some defense courses for knife use, they instructed to NOT go for neck or body which could easily kill someone. They said that you go for the face, paticularly the eyes, you will probably get the attacker to back off with minimum damage to them, and that is the idea, to stop them, not kill them. |
